The Worship of God: "Worship and the World" - Revelation 8:1-5

Pastor Wilkins in his previous sermon said : "It is preeminently the worship of the church that identifies the church as the church in the world. Worship identifies the Church as: 1) The Baptismal community of God. 2) The Bridal community of God. 3) The Catholic community of God. 4) The Missional community of God. In this sermon: 5) Worship also marks us out as the priestly community. 6) Worship Marks the Church as the army of the Lord."

The Worship of God: "Worship and the Church's Identity" - Psalm 95

Pastor Wilkins: "In our day, public worship is viewed indifferently. Private devotions are seen as far more important to your spiritual well-being. The Bible, however, presents worship as central to all of faith and life. Adam was created first and foremost to be a worshiper. He was to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth with worshipers. Thus, worship was central to his identity and is central to the identity of God's people."

"Worthless Men" - Proverbs 6:12-19

Pastor Wilkins: "In the first half of this chapter Solomon describes three types of worthless companions that his son must avoid. In the first five verses, he speaks about men who foolishly guarantee the debts of others. Then Solomon tells about the slothful man (vv. 6-11). This is a more serious form of rebellion. The slothful man rejects his calling to care for the world and beautify it, making it by his hard work and the blessing of God more and more glorious. The sluggard will be mugged by the judgment of God (6:11). The third category of men that Solomon mentions are the “worthless men” (vv. 12-15). Literally the phrase is 'a man of Belial.'”
